Tossing Books Out of the Bible

I had a prof in college who was famous for saying that he wasn't sure if Esther really belonged in the Bible.I didn't know what to make of that at the time, but now I know that he simply didn't like women.

(Kidding.)

The honest truth is we all have books of the Bible we don't like and would rather not have to deal with.

Mine is Proverbs. There, I said it.

I don't know why  but I have an aversion to reading Proverbs. Maybe I find myself identifying with the foolish man too often. Maybe I realize how many people over the years have interpreted proverbs as "promises" (they aren't the same).

Not sure, but when I come to a crossroads in deciding what to read/teach from/think through next Proverbs hits the bottom of the list.

What's your least favorite book of the Bible?

What would we find if we opened our hearts to the Spirit of Jesus and dove into our least favorite books?

Perhaps the greatest transformation our lives have ever seen will come when we open our hearts to that which seems irritating or displeasing to us, and pray "Come Holy Spirit, be my guide."
