God Does Not Need Good People
I was reading some Eugene Peterson this morning and found this incredible quote. He was talking about the messiness of God's salvation in a broken and rebellious world when he said:"God, it turns out, does not require good people to do good work." (141)
Do you agree or disagree? How does this change the way we look at the question of why bad things happen to good people?
N.T. Wright introduced this principle (somewhere, the man has written so much but I think it was here) by saying it was God's desire to use broken people to heal broken creation. If that is the case, then how do we use the broken pieces, allow them to be transformed and redeemed by God, to bring the world back to Him?
Some Monday thoughts.
