Hoth & Formation on Friday

It is crazy cold in Chicagoland today.I can't explain it any other way than to show you the video of what happened to me this morning. Thank goodness my friend came along to help.

To those of you whom I just made your day - don't mention it. 

In other news, I came across a Scripture yesterday that I believe is worthwhile for anyone walking the path of formation into Christlikeness to memorize:

For God has destined us not for wrath but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep we may live with Him. Therefore encourage one another and build up each other as indeed you are doing.(I Thessalonians 5:9-11, NRSV)

What I keep coming back to is the "whether awake or asleep" statement. Reading all of 1 Thessalonians you realize that "awake" and "asleep" are metaphors for life and death, as well as for being attentive or inattentive to what God is doing.

Let this verse feed you as you go into this weekend - and as some of you start the snowblower and pick up the shovel. May God bless you, asleep or awake, with His empowering and enriching presence from moment to moment, day to day, breath to breath.
